Lafayette, Louisiana KLFY 10 reported that the Bayou Vermillion School District lost $150K in 2023, but the money has since been recovered.
The district immediately reported the theft to all parties involved, the Legislative Auditor’s office, and numerous law enforcement agencies, and all funds were recovered, the audit said.
According to the audit, the district did not have the proper cyber security and electronic disbursement authorization procedures in place to prevent or detect fraud.
