KCTV, Kansas reported:
Here is a reminder that fraudsters can be local. KC woman pleads guilty to nearly quarter-million dollar email fraud scheme.
Graves admitted that she received a payment of $240,926 from ETS Contracting, a Brooklyn-based business as part of a business email compromise scheme.
According to Thursday’s plea agreement, ETS Contracting was finishing a contract with a vendor on Dec. 12, 2022. That day, the company received a payment instruction email which they thought came from the vendor company asking to wire the $240,926 to a J.P. Morgan Chase Bank account.
The instruction email actually came from a different email address with one letter changed in the domain name.
