US Attorney's Office, Western District of Texas reported:
A former Valentine Independent School District employee has been arrested on charges related to an alleged scheme to misappropriate school district funds for personal expenses.
Ernesto Villarreal, a 42-year-old from Marfa, is accused of using Valentine ISD-issued credit cards for hundreds of unauthorized personal purchases, including travel, lodging, home improvements, and university tuition payments, according to court documents.
Additionally, Villarreal is accused of accessing payroll information for several employees and former employees to create fraudulent payroll payments directed to his personal bank account.
