The unknown scammer was able to mimic emails from New Jersey-based L&A Tent Rentals — the vendor that provided tents for last year's Lackawanna Winter Market — and make a payment request for $56,689.
The county paid the fake bill in January before learning the actual vendor never received the payment, according to a county statement.
