New Scam Alert: Oklahoma Toll Text Scam

The Ada News reported:   

Residents around the state continue to receive scam texts warning of unpaid toll balances, which are phishing attacks designed to steal money and personal information.

The scam is known to be in at least eight states, with Oklahoma being the most recent state affected by it. People often receive a text with an attachment that appears to be an official Oklahoma Turnpike Authority Plate Pay request for a past-due charge of $4.15.

Included in the tips to avoid the scam was to always check with the tolling agency directly.
