Where Accounts Payable Teams are responsible for distributing forms and the tax filing for reportable income on the IRS 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC and 1042-S forms. Each year the IRS announces changes to the 1099 and 1042 reporting requirements which affect due diligence and other processes within the Accounts Payable function. This workshop will be from the Accounts Payable Practitioner perspective to start preparations and testing on the Accounting System or ERP, testing the IRS e-filing system (where required), preparing vendor data and more for Tax Year 2026. 

After this session participants will be able to:
  1. Identify the fields that are required for tax reporting and how to validate that they are accurate
  2. Understand changes to tax reporting for Tax Year 2026 and what has been announced for Tax Year 2027
  3. Understand the required tax filing deadlines for the 1099-MISC, 1099-NEC and the 1042-S tax forms
  4. Know which publication(s) to review for guidelines on combined reporting, e-filing requirements
  5. Understand how to prepare the Accounting System or ERP for annual tax file testing and filing
  6. Implement a plan to collect reporting information for reportable payees of payments that did not originate in AP
  7. Understand the e-filing threshold and filing options for US and Foreign vendors.
